“For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Saviour which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
I like those words “unto you”, they personalize the story of Christmas. I firmly believe that if I had been the only living soul upon this earth, the Lord Jesus would have come to take upon Himself the form of man in order that He might die for me, and to provide life for a sinner such as I.
Jesus’ main purpose in coming to this earth was to provide atonement for sin by His death upon the cross of Calvary.
The true meaning of Christmas is not the festivities nor the music, nor Santa Claus, nor the exchange of gifts, it is the celebration of God’s gift of love to the world, the Saviour Jesus Christ our Lord.
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
I trust each of us have received the Saviour, God’s gift of love into our hearts. Only when we have received Jesus into our hearts will we know the true meaning of Christmas.
If you do not have Christ in your heart, what better time could you have than this Christmas Season to ask Him to be your Saviour. Won’t you do it today? Why not come to Jesus right now.
I trust that each of you will have a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
The first woman to “carry” the Gospel was Mary.
